A short yet Sweet Tour of the Island which covers the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka, the famous Cultural Triangle, and there after relax by some of the best beaches on the Island in the East Coast.
This 7 day tour of Sri Lanka is what we call short and sweet. You will begin from the capital of the city and proceed to ancient cities such as Sigiriya & Anuradhapura, thereafter you will have some time to rest by some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, and also if time permits, quench your thirst for adventure during your short stay in Sri Lanka.

You will be greeted by our representative at the airport and transferred to Colombo.
Colombo the Capital of Sri Lanka offers a plethora of tourists destinations that include museums, architectural wonders, historic temples, Kovils, Mosque’s, Anglican churches built by the British empire, shopping haunts, entertainment plaza’s, wide array of fine dining restaurants and spectacular night life.
This commercial hub will be the starting point of your tour and hence this day has been left for you to relax and recoup after your long flight.
If time permits and you are up for it, it could be arranged for you to do some sightseeing around Colombo and even check the night life of the cosmopolitan city.
After an early breakfast, you will begin travelling towards the Cultural Triangle of the country.
Enroute visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. This elephant orphanage which stretches over a 24 acre estate is also a breeding place for elephants. Between 1975 and 2012, sixty-seven animals were born here and if you are lucky you might even be able to bathe and feed these beautiful giants.
After the Elephant Orphanage you will proceed to Kandy, the Hill Capital of the island. Visit the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the tooth relic). This is one of the most prominent temples in the country. It is home to the Buddha’s Tooth and annual ceremonies’ such as the Esala Perahera and the Dalada Perahera which is celebrated during the months of July or August each year.
After visiting the temple in the evening enjoy the Kandyan Cultural Show at the Kandyan Arts & Cultural Centre. The show features the graceful and rhythmic dancers and drummers culminating in an impressive fire walking display.
In the evening you will proceed to your Hotel in Kandy for overnight stay.
After breakfast and at your leisure you will proceed to Habarana.
Enroute to Habarana you will make a quick pit stop at the Matale Spice & Herbal Gardens. Here you will be taught on how ancient medicines were made with herbs & spices during the medieval times, and also be given a demonstration of its healing powers by way of a refreshing massage.
Afterwards you will proceed to the Dambulla cave temple. The Dambulla cave which houses 5 temples from different regimes of the kings that ruled the city is of great importance to the Buddhist world and is considered a marvel as to how well the cave temples have been preserved of the past centuries.
After visiting the Dambulla cave temple proceed to Habarana. In the afternoon from 3 to 5pm we will engage in a Jeep Safari at the Minneriya Park. April – May is a famous season to witness the spectacular Elephant Gathering in this park where over hundreds of Elephants gather to Eat, Bathe, Socialize and mate by the reservoir in this Park. In Habarana if time permits you could enjoy an Elephant back ride in the evening.
In the morning after an early breakfast you will proceed to Sigiriya.
Sigiriya the 5th century rock fortress is a UNESCO declared world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The ”Lion Rock” is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the ”Heavenly Maidens” of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster. The climb to the top and the descent will take approximately 3-4 hours.
After Sigiriya you will proceed to Trincomalee. Sri Lanka’s equivalent of the Maldives, with never-ending white sandy beaches, coral islands and shimmering blue seas. Trincomalee is the ideal place for you to sit back soak up the sun and relax. But if you are looking for more than just sunbathing be sure to catch a Dolphin & Whale watching expedition or simply snorkel along the beautiful coral reefs.
This day is at your leisure to engage in more sun bathing or do some sight-seeing and visit the famous Koneswaran Hindu Temple and Fort Frederick which dates back to the 3rd Century BC.
The rest of the day will be at your leisure in soak up the sun and dive or snorkel amongst the beautiful corals in Pigeon Islands.
At your leisure in the morning you will check out of your hotel in Trincomalee and proceed back to the Cultural Triangle to visit one of the oldest cities of the Sinhalese kingdom, Anuradhapura
It is one of the older continuous inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. From the 4th century BC, it was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centres of political power and urban life in South Asia. Monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles today surround the ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world.
Afterwards, you will proceed to the breath taking Kalpitiya Lagoon which is situated on the west coast of Sri Lanka.
This day is at your leisure. Depending on the scheduled time of departure of your flight, if time permits you could head into the Wilpattu national park for a Jeep Safari and fancy your chances at spotting Bear, Leopards, and Wild elephants in Sri Lanka’s largest nature reserve.
Depending on your scheduled time of departure you will check out of the hotel and proceed straight to the Katunayake international airport.
