You will be greeted by our representative at the airport and transferred to Colombo.
Colombo the Capital of Sri Lanka offers a plethora of tourists destinations that include museums, architectural wonders, historic temples, Kovils, Mosque’s, Anglican churches built by the British empire, shopping haunts, entertainment plaza’s, a wide array of fine dining restaurants and spectacular night life.
This commercial hub will be the starting point of your tour and hence this day has been left for you to relax and recoup after your long flight.
If time permits and you are up for it, it could be arranged for you to do some sightseeing around Colombo and even check the night life of the cosmopolitan city.
You begin travelling along the southern Expressway for your choice of stay between Hikkaduwa and Mirissa. This is a part of our flexibility that we exercise for your complete satisfaction with your beach stay.
Hikkaduwa is a busy bustling city popularly known as the “happening place” because of its immense activities with a variety of music and beach parties until the late hours of the night.
Galle located south of Sri Lanka was once the capital of the Dutch Colony, which reigned in Sri Lanka in the early 17th century. The architecture of this city, which resembles the mixture of European influence along with South Asian traditions, can still be seen in some parts of the city.
The Galle Fortress, which remains today the largest European built fortress in the Asian region, is the best example of the European fusion along with Sri Lankan Culture.
Galle is also famous for its beaches and its neighbouring towns Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa for its amazing surf and exotic cuisines and wild raves.
Depending on the time of year, accommodation in the south will vary from either Hikkaduwa, Galle, Ahangama or Mirissa which are situated a few minutes away from each other. Ahangama and Mirissa are convenient for Whale & Dolphin watching enthusiast because the harbour is closest to these towns.
Wake up early on this morning and proceed towards the Galle or Mirissa harbour to engage in a Whale & Dolphin watching expedition off the high seas in the Indian Ocean. This tour will take approx three hours, and begins at 6.00 am.
In the evening, visit the beaches of Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa to hit some of the parties along the coast to get a feel of the amazing Sri Lankan beach party atmosphere. These towns on either side of Galle are a tourist hotspot on the island for its beautiful beaches, amazing waves, exquisite restaurants and amazing parties.
If time permits you may also visit a sea turtle hatchery, which is a few minutes’ drive from Galle/Hikkaduwa.
After an early breakfast travel along the scenic coastal belt further south towards Yala.
This Natural Wild life park which stretches over 90,000 hectares is home to a number of animals mainly Elephants, spotted Deer, Sambar, Wild Buffalo, Sloth Bear and Leopards. It is also home to a variety of bird species the Peacock and the jungle fowl being the main attractions. With some luck, you might be able to spot a peacock dance and even a few Leopards and Bears amongst the trees.
In the evening you could relax in your hotel and stroll along the golden untouched sandy beaches of Yala.
In the morning if you wish you may go on another safari ride in the park. Experts say this is the best time to enter the park if you wish to spot leopard and bear. After the morning safari you will be transferred to the hills of Nuwara Eliya.
Nuwara Eliya one of the highest elevated cities on the island was once referred to as “Little England”. Mainly due to the cool climate of the city, the lush greenery surrounding it and the cottage lifestyle of the city, the Green Mountainous hills of Nuwara Eliya is the perfect transition city from the warm southern coast to eastern coast.
While in Nuwara Eliya take a boat ride on the picturesque Lake Gregory and if lucky watch some of the horse races by the famous race course. You may also visit the Hakgala Botanical gardens, which is home to over 10,000 different species of flora, and one of the many Tea factory’s built by British which still function to this date. Most importantly be sure to stop by the strawberry farms and indulge in some of the freshest strawberries in the Asian region. If time permits you could also visit the Ambewela dairy farm.
The rest of the day will be at your leisure in Nuwara Eliya, if you like you get engage in a short city tour of the green city of Nuwara Eliya including the fruits & vegetables market.
In the evening visit a Tea factory to see how some of the world’s finest Ceylonese tea is manufactured and taste a cup of freshly brewed tea in the factory premises.
After breakfast proceed further inland towards Kandy, the Capital of the hill country. Enroute make a quick pit stop at the spectacular Ramboda waterfalls and the famous Strawberry farm to indulge in some of the best strawberries in the Asian region.
Kandy the last stronghold of the Sinhalese kings is a city filled with great culture and history. The Temple of the Tooth Relic which is in the center of the city is home to the Buddha’s Tooth and many Buddhist festivals and ceremonies’.
In the afternoon you could take a tour of the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic) and afterwards enjoy the Kandyan Cultural Show at the Kandyan Arts & Cultural Centre. The show features the graceful and rhythmic dancers and drummers culminating in an impressive fire walking display.
In the morning you may engage in more sightseeing of Kandy and afterwards proceed to Sigiriya. Sigiriya a famous landmark of Sri Lanka, was once the fortress of King Kashyapa in the years 470 – 490 CE. This rock citadel which was his safe haven from the rest of his father’s empire stands today a marvel to all because of the astounding architecture of the rock. The climb will take approximately 2-3 hours and is a definite must see for any tourist visiting Sri Lanka.
After Sigiriya proceed to Habarana. In Habarana if time permits you could go an Elephant back ride in the evening.
In the morning visit the Dambulla cave temple, to marvel at some of the architecture of the ancient civilization of this kingdom. If you wish you may climb to ancient Dambulla cave temples. The five temples which are of great archaeological value were made in natural caves some thousands of years ago and discovered in the 17th century.
Afterwards travel to Polonnaruwa the 2nd Kingdom of the Sri Lankan kings. Here you will be able to see many of the amazing irrigation works, ruins of buildings and statues that were built back in the 4th century BC. Return to your hotel in Habarana
After breakfast proceed towards the beautiful beaches of the eastern coast, Trincomalee.
Sri Lanka’s equivalent of the Maldives, with never-ending white sandy beaches, coral islands and shimmering blue seas. Trincomalee is the ideal place for you to sit back soak up the sun and relax. But if you are looking for more than just sunbathing be sure to catch a Dolphin & Whale watching expedition or simply snorkel along the beautiful coral reefs.
This day is at your leisure or engage in more sun bathing or do some sightseeing and visit the famous Koneswaran Hindu Temple which dates back to the 3rd Century BC.
Proceed back to the Cultural Triangle to visit the one of the oldest cities of the Sinhalese kingdom, Anuradhapura. It is one of the older continuous inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight world heritage sites in Sri Lanka.
From the 4th century BC, it was the capital of Sri Lanka until the beginning of the 11th century AD. During this period it remained one of the most stable and durable centers of political power and urban life in South Asia. Monasteries covering an area of over sixteen square miles today surround the ancient city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world.
This city located on a lagoon surrounded by water is the ideal place for any wild life lover. Spot leopard and bear in the Wilpattu Park a few KM inwards from the lagoon or set sail and spot Blue whales, Sperm whales & Dolphins right off the coast of Kalpitiya.
On the other hand if you are looking to sit back relax and soak up the sun the golden beaches and the calm lagoon is the ideal place for you to relax and recoup after all the heavy touring.
This day is at your leisure to relax by the beach and even set out on another dolphin & whale watching expedition. Kalpitiya is also famous for a variety of water sports, be it Kite Surfing, Surfing, Canoeing, Snorkelling. This is the ideal place for you to conquer all your water sports activities
Depending on your scheduled flight you can do a little more sightseeing around Kalpitiya & Negombo and head to Katunayake International Airport in time for your departure flight.
