Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrival at Katunayake International Airport and transfer to Colombo

    Ayubowan!! and Welcome to Sri Lanka..!!

    You will be greeted by one of our representatives at the airport and transferred to Colombo.
    Colombo the Capital of Sri Lanka offers a plethora of tourist destinations that include museums, Architectural wonders, historic temples, Kovils, Mosque’s, Anglican churches built by the British empire, shopping haunts, entertainment plaza’s, wide array of fine dining restaurants and spectacular night life.

    This commercial hub will be the starting point of your tour and hence this day has been left for you to relax and recoup after your flight.
    If time permits and you are up for it, it could be arranged for you to do some sightseeing around Colombo and even check the night life of the cosmopolitan city.

  • Day 2 Transfer to Sigiriya via Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and Cave Temple in Dambulla

    After an early breakfast, you will begin travelling towards the Cultural Triangle of the country.
    Enroute visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. This elephant orphanage which stretches over a 24 acre estate (9 hectares) is also a breeding place for elephants. Between 1975 and 2012, sixty-nine animals were born here and if you are lucky you might even be able to bathe and feed these beautiful giants.

    After Pinnawela proceed to Dambulla. If time permits you could also visit the Dambulla cave temple on the way. If you wish you may climb to ancient Dambulla cave temples. The five temples which are of great archaeological value were made in natural caves some thousands of years ago and discovered in the 17th century.

    After visiting the Cave temple in the evening proceed to your hotel in Sigiriya for overnight stay.

  • Day 3 Visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Ancient City of Polonnaruwa

    Start this morning early and after an early breakfast we will proceed to Sigiriya to climb the famous Citadel of king Kashyapa of Sri Lanka.

    Sigiriya a famous landmark of Sri Lanka, was once the fortress of King Kashyapa in the years 470 – 490 CE. This rock citadel which was his safe haven from the rest of his father’s empire stands today a marvel to all because of the astounding architecture of the rock. The climb will take approximately 2-3 hours and is a definite must see for any tourist visiting Sri Lanka.

    Afterwards we will travel to Polonnaruwa the 2nd Kingdom of the Sri Lankan kings. Here you will be able to see many of the amazing irrigation works, ruins of buildings and statues that were built back in the 4th century BC. Also visit a Wood Carving Factory in Polonnaruwa where you can observe some of the finest crafted wood work and witness some practical demonstrations of the wood carvers on site.

    Enroute to Sigiriya, enjoy an Elephant Back Ride across the lake in Habarana perched on top this giants’ back in a sturdy wooden casket.

    Return to your hotel in Sigiriya for overnight stay.

  • Day 4 Transfer to Kandy via Dambulla and Matale

    After breakfast proceed to Kandy, The Hill Capital of the island. Enroute visit a Spice Garden in Matale. Here you will be taught how Herbs & Spices are used with ancient recipes to cure a number of ailments.

    Afterwards you will proceed to Kandy. Once you check in at your hotel visit the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the tooth relic). This is one of the most prominent temples in the country. It is home to the Buddha’s Tooth and annual ceremonies’ such as the Esala Perahera and the Dalada Perahera.

    After visiting the temple, in the evening from 5 to 6pm enjoy the Kandyan Cultural Show at the Kandyan Arts & Cultural Centre. The show features the graceful and rhythmic dancers and drummers culminating in an impressive fire walking display.

    Witness the annual Perahera (elephant parade) from your nominated/pre booked venue. The Perahera which starts around 7pm from the Dalada Maligawa encircles the historic city. This ritual is performed by carrying the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha through the streets of the Kandy city which is done with exceptional panache. This is considered as one of the most beautiful pageants in the Asia. The colourfully decorated elephants and elegant costumes of the drummers, dancers and performers is a spectacle by itself.

  • Day 5 Leisure day in Kandy

    This day is at your leisure to do a more extensive city tour of Kandy around the picturesque manmade lake, or simply relax by your hotel. Kandy is the 2nd largest city in the country which was the last kingdom during the reign of kings in Sri Lanka. It is also famous for its Batik Shops and Gem Museums which are definitely worth a visit.

    Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya which has been rated the Best in Asia! The Orchid House is a must see place. It is renowned for the collection the variety of Orchids, and has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees including the National Herbarium. Total land mass of the botanical garden is 147 acres, 460 meters above sea level with a 200 day annual rain fall.

    In the evening, witness the Kandy Perahera from your nominated/pre booked venue. Thereafter return to your hotel for overnight stay.

  • Day 6 Transfer to Negombo

    After breakfast, at leisure proceed to Negombo for your final night’s stay by a hotel along the coastal belt of Negombo. On arrival in Negombo, indulge in some shopping in the area or with the vendors on the beach who sell a variety of colourful batik casual wear wrap-a-rounds, swim wear, shorts, T-shirts etc.

    Visit the Old Dutch city of Negombo including a visit to the Dutch Prison, Fort, Catholic Church and the Canal where trading was once carried out using this waterway by the Dutch and Portuguese during their reign in Sri Lanka.

    Return to the hotel for overnight stay in Negombo.

  • Day 7 Proceed to Katunayake International Airport for your departure flight
